MENTAL HEALTH AND IT'S LINK TO WHAT'S IN OUR GUTS!

Headed into the New Year, many of us are focused on finding a better space for mental health in our lives. Some are on the extreme and are “shedding all toxic relationships” on social media, others are simply looking to overcome real challenges like anxiety, epilepsy, and loneliness. And for many of us BDads we’re still looking for more ways to ensure that our kids behavior and mental stability is at peak performance. As we do this - there’s often a turn to anti-depression medications that impact our the neurons in our brains in a way that shift our access to serotonin - that thing that controls our happiness, or at least plays a key role. In this podcast - host Alie Ward talks to microbiologist Dr Elaine Hsiao about the nitty gritty details of microbiology - the study of microorganisms like bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Dr Hsiao schools us on how eating the right things can have a major impact on the microorganic makeup of our bodies, which can have tremendous positive benefits to our mental health, fights against diseases and many other things. Hope you enjoy.
