MAHERSHALA ALI IN TRUE DETECTIVE SEASON 3 LOOKS SOO GOOD!

I won't hate on Season 2 of True Detective, but something about Vince Vaughn...I don't know...I just can't see him and not want to laugh. I really struggled to connect with the second season of one HBO's most notable original shows - especially following what was an absolutely game changing season 1.  Season 2 left me either hating the idea of this show or craving a renaissance that would keep me on the edge of my seat like season 1 did. 

After finishing the final episode of Sharp Objects this past week, I got a glimpse of one of my favorite actors - Mahershala Ali - in rare, but friggin amazing form in the new True Detective Season 3 trailer.  The best part of the trailer is that it seems to have a similar tone as the earlier True Detective Season 1 - following two detectives on a hunt for an elusive, yet dangerous killer.  The difference here however, is that the trailer seems to cover 3 different time periods of Mahershala's life.  I am a sucker for time shifted series and how it can really extend the life of murder mysteries.  We'll have to wait until January 2019 to experience the new season, but I'm almost out of breath seeing the growth and success of such an amazing black male actor like Mahershala.  And again, hats off to HBO for really diving in on diversity and inclusion within their content development - not relegating black actors to stereotypical story-lines. It's game changing and what continues to keep them at the top of the pack.   My alarm is set for January and the new season!
